Inle Lake in northeastern Burma’s Shan state has for decades humbled tourists with its exquisite beauty and serenity. But a throbbing waterfront society exists on its shores, much of it dependent on the abundance of fish and informal trade that the country’s second-largest lake, 45 square miles in size, supports.
