BRIEF – 45 injured in China border quake

At least 45 people have been injured in the earthquake which struck on Friday around the Burma-China border, some 65 km southeast of Kachin capital Myitkyina, according to AP. Following another quake some days earlier in the same area of Yunnan, a total of 184, 678 have been moved to temporary shelters, according to Yunnanese officials. More than 1,000 soldiers were helping rescue efforts, and tents and bedding were sent to aid survivors. The tremor was measured at magnitude 6.1 by China’s monitoring agency, but at 5.9 by the US Geological Survey.
