BRIEF— Earthquake shakes area of Burma-China border

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 has shaken the Burma-China border region, AFP has reported. According to the United States Geographical Survey (USGS), who detected the quake, the epicentre was located 65 kilometres south east of Myitkyina, capital of Kachin State. USGC stated that “moderate damage” could be expected from the “very strong” earthquake.
