BRIEF - Rangoon ceasefire talks rescheduled

Talks between the government’s peace negotiators and the ethnic armed group’s Nationwide Ceasefire Coordination Team (NCCT), planned for 19 and 20 May, have been postponed because NCCT members visiting the Kachin Independence Organisation’s headquarters in Laiza, northern Burma, will not make it back in time. The long-awaited meeting, at which the two sides will continue drafting a nationwide ceasefire agreement, will now take place in Rangoon on 21 and 22 of May joined by senior Burmese military representatives.
