Chinlone contest kicks off in Mandalay

The 40th Myanmar Chinlone Contest began on Sunday at Eindawya Pagoda in Mandalay Division, state-run New Light of Myanmar reported on Tuesday. A total of 660 teams will participate in the tournament, which will continue until 5 October. Chinlone, also known as cane ball, is a traditional team sport played in Burma. A mixture of sport and dance, players compete to elegantly keep a rattan ball in motion.
