Dozens hospitalised with food poisoning in Bassein

Dozens of people in the Irrawaddy Division capital of Bassein have been hospitalised with symptoms of food poisoning after attending a church opening ceremony. Eighty-seven locals from Bassein’s Taethonelone village began suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting on 17 January after eating pork curry and cabbage soup at the event. They were sent to a district hospital the next day. A health official from Bassein said there was no fear of contagion.
