George W. Bush calls for release of students

Ex-American president George W. Bush and his wife, Laura Bush, on Thursday released a statement calling for the release of activists arrested in recent education protests. One of the detainees, Phyoe Phyoe Aung of the All Burma Federation of Student Union, is also a participant in the Bush Institute’s Liberty and Leadership Forum, and is described as “a passionate advocate for education in Burma.” The statement goes on to say that: “Education is vital to the political, economic, and social well-being of every nation and people.”
