Obama calls for ethnic rights, free and fair elections in Burma

US President Barack Obama spoke separately by telephone with Burma’s President Thein Sein and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Thursday to reiterate US calls that Naypyidaw address ethnic tensions in the country, while also calling for free and free elections in 2015, agencies reported. Obama’s calls come ahead of a second visit to Burma in November when he will attend the East Asian summit.
