Obama maintains Burma on sanctions list for use of child soldiers

President Barack Obama has maintained Burma on the US sanctions list under the Child Soldier Prevention Act (CSPA). The continuity of the sanction, announced on Tuesday, prevents US military assistance and sale of licenses for commercial military sales to Burma. Under the CSPA, nine other countries also feature on the US sanctions list including Syria and Sudan. Last week the Burmese army released 109 child soldiers, stated as the biggest single discharge of underage soldiers in Burmese army history.
