Thein Sein makes state visit to Malaysia

The Burmese president and his wife on Thursday began an official two-day state visit to Kuala Lumpur. Thein Sein and Malaysian premier Najib Razak are expected to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as regional and global issues of common interest, according to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It will be Thein Sein’s first visit to the country since he was elected in 2011. Last year, trade between the two ASEAN countries reached almost US$1 billion.
