Wirathu pens penitentiary environmental plea

Controversial nationalist monk Wirathu appears to have penned a surprising environmental call to action, set to a hip hop beat. Written while serving time in prison, the song “Heart of the Earth” is rapped by an as-yet unnamed young man, and contains the lyrics: “Protect the heart of this earth. Cherish the beauty of the nature!…Invent devices to prevent storms! Invent technology to prevent earthquakes! Invent a cure of HIV!” Speaking to DVB, Wirathu said that he felt compelled to tackle the issue following Nargis, the cyclone that devastated Burma in 2008.
