Nov 05, 2008 (DVB)-Eleven detained National League for Democracy members from Rangoon Hlaing Thayar township gave their back to the court yesterday to protest against unfair procedure.

U Tin Yu, Ko Thant Zin Myo and nine other party members were arrested in May last year in connection with their prayer campaign for the release of political prisoners. Some of them were released for awhile but rearrested for their involvements in the monks’ saffron revolution in September.

"When they came out of the court, they said, ‘we have no faith in this court and we are boycotting it. We will neither cooperate with the court nor recognise the trial’", Thant Zin Myo’s brother Thant Zin Oo told DVB.

"They all gave their back to the court standing. They also shouted, ‘there is no just court, only unfair court here’. They continued to shout and clap in the van when they were being driven back to the prison."

The activists also withdrew representation of their lawyers, Ko Po Pyu and Ko Nyi Nyi Hlaing.

"As the court is acting unfairly and they (the authorities) are likely to send the lawyers to prison, my brother and his friends are withdrawing representing power of their lawyers in an effort to protect them," Ko Thant Zin Oo said.

"As a family member, I am concerned that they will be tortured for their action because Myo Kyaw Zin was beaten up recently for writing ‘Substantiate the truth and criticize the wrongdoing’ on his back at the court appearance."Reporting by Khin Hnin Htet
