Generation Wave member feared arrested

Sep 8, 2008 (DVB), A Generation Wave member from Rangoon who has been missing since 2 September is feared to have been arrested by the authorities, according to a spokesperson for the group.

Ko Moe Thway, spokesperson for the underground activist group Generation Wave told DVB that one of the group's members, Ko Win Maung from Hmawbi township, went out to see some of his friends on 2 September and has not been seen since.

"He went out to meet some friends but he never made it and has been nowhere to be found since then," Moe Thway said.

"So we chased information on his whereabouts and learned that he had been arrested by the authorities."

He said the group still did not have any information on the circumstances of Ko Win Maung's arrest or where he was being held.
