KIA hold talks with Burmese Army

On Thursday leaders of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) met with Burmese army troops in Laja Yang for formal talks.  This is the first time they have met since  fighting broke out more than three weeks ago, effectively ending their 17-year long ceasefire agreement.  KIA deputy military chief, Brig-Gen Gun Maw, called for more transparency from the government.
