    Until the late afternoon, tens of thousands of people were pouring into the streets of the biggest cities such as Yangon, Mandalay, Naypyidaw and any other capital cities such as Magway, Myitkyina and Monywa, etc,  making their massive anti-coup demonstrations. Almost all businesses, markets and shops are closed today as “five twos’ general strike and nearly everyone takes to the streets countrywide.

    Military-run Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) and MRTV Live have been removed from Facebook today(Feb22). “In line with our global policies, we’ve removed the MRTV and MRTV Live Pages from Facebook for repeated violations of our Community Standards, including our violence and incitement policy,” said Rafael Frankel, Facebook’s Director of Public Policy for APAC. 

    More than a dozen protesters were forcibly arrested and a light truck was confiscated by the security forces this afternoon (Feb 22) in Pyinmana, Naypyidaw, according to witnesses.

    The Yangon University of Economics Students’ Union was conducting a campaign named “Ma Wal Nae” (Do Not Buy) to boycott military related products and services, and urged all to participate.

    More than 400 CDM teachers from universities and colleges, and CDM staff marched peacefully from the People’s Square to the Russian Embassy in Yangon without shouting slogans today in the “22222 nationwide general strike” against the military dictatorship. 

    As of 8 PM, 21 Feb, a total of 959 samples were tested, and found 15 more new cases. MoHS has reported 141,750 of total confirmed cases including 131,282 discharged, and 3,196 deaths.

    The United Nations Country Team in Myanmar issued a statement on Feb 21 concerning Saturday’s deadly crackdown in Mandalay.
