| Films planned to raise funds for cyclone victims
Jun 2, 2008 (DVB)–Directors and actors from the Burmese film industry are contributing their talents free of charge to six films which will be sold to raise money for cyclone victims.
Film director Mee Pwar said he would be making a film entitled Mee Myar Mee Naing about a dispute between two neighbours.
"We are doing as much as we can for the cyclone victims. We will start working on the films tomorrow on location in Pyin Oo Lwin," he said.
"Six directors – Mee Pwar, Mike Tee, Kyaw Zaw Linn, Maung Thi, Ko Zaw (Aryoneoo) and Nyunt Myanmar Nyi Nyi Aung – will be making the films."
Bayluwa, a comedian and actor, said he had seen the situation of cyclone victims first hand.
"I have been to the Irrawaddy delta about seven times already, helping victims there, so I've seen what it's like for them,” he said.
“I think this is what we artists can and should do to help them forget their troubles for a moment. We will auction the videos when they are done and all the profits will go to the cyclone victims."
Celebrities from the Burmese entertainment industry have been among those at the forefront of relief efforts on the ground in Irrawaddy and Rangoon divisions.
