Jun 18, 2008 (DVB), Two children were hospitalized and several others slightly injured when a first-floor corridor collapsed in Tharkayta township’s middle school 8 yesterday, according to residents.

A local resident said that the injuries sustained were minor apart from the two children sent to hospital.

"A corridor on the first floor of the school collapsed and some kids were dragged along with it into the muddy water on the ground at around 11.45am," he said.

"A lot of parents flocked to the school after they heard the news, worrying if their children had been hurt."

The resident said the school was closed today, and government officials have arrived on the scene to investigate the incident.
