Spanish tourist in Pegu sword attack

A Spanish tourist suffered severe injuries when he was attacked by an unknown group of men wielding swords in Pegu’s divisional capital.

Khin Thein Maung, a local administrative official, told DVB that the tourist, identified only as Carlos, was cycling close to the entrance of Pegu town on Monday evening when he was attacked by unidentified assailants.

“According to the victim’s statement, he was cycling alone outside of Pegu at around 11pm. He was attacked by some young men with whom he crossed paths. However, we don’t really know anything for sure as we had to communicate with him via an interpreter,” said Khin Thein Maung.
