Refugees may soon be escorted to two camps in Rakhine State – provided all their paperwork is in order.
At the invitation of the Chinese government, Suu Kyi is scheduled to deliver a speech as a special guest at the meeting.
“It is standard practice in voluntary repatriation operations that UNHCR would be involved to ensure international standards are met for any type of return agreement,” said a UNHCR spokesman.
“The first phase it to effect a ceasefire on the ground, to return to stability and order, so the people can enjoy peace and no longer be forced to flee.”
