As China’s leaders prepare to welcome State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi later this week, Beijing continues to cultivate close ties with the country’s former dictator.
DVB interviews Burmese political analyst Dr Yan Myo Thein about the significance of Aung San Suu Kyi’s upcoming trip to China.
Suu Kyi’s spokesperson Phyo Zayar Thaw said: “Arrangements are still being discussed with Chinese officials. She won’t be leaving anytime soon.”
Twelve members from the NLD’s Central Executive Committee left Burma for a goodwill trip to China on Tuesday.
