Nov 22, 2007 (DVB), Top leaders of the 88 Generation Students were allowed to receive prison visits from their families yesterday for the first time since their arrests exactly three months before.
The leaders, who include Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi, Ko Jimmy and Ko Mya Aye, are being held at Insein prison in Rangoon.
They were arrested during the protests in September over increases in commodity prices. Ma Saw Yu went to visit her older brother Panate Htun, who was also among those allowed visitors.
"Today, I visited my brother who has been detained in an exclusive ward inside the Insein prison. I was allowed to talk to him for about 20 minutes and also to give him food and other items," she said.
"All the student leaders seemed to be in good health. The prison allowed three families to meet at a time. I saw Ko Jimmy and Ko Htay Kywe at our session."
