Oct 9, 2007 (DVB), The Burmese government has appointed a liaison officer to facilitate relations with detained National League for Democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
According to an announcement in the state-run New Light of Myanmar, United Nations Special Envoy Ibrahim Gambari recommended the appointment of a liaison officer during his recent visit to Burma.
Deputy Minister for Labour Aung Kyi has been assigned the post of Minister for Relations.
