To divert attention from the conflict raging in Karenni State, youth in Myanmar launched a singing competition with all proceeds going towards the resistance to the 2021 military coup. The Voice of Freedom – Karenni Idol was started in 2023, but postponed to Dec. 14, 2024. It aired every Saturday until the winner was announced on Jan. 25.
