BRIEF - 5.2 earthquake shakes up Mogok

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit 53km west of the town of Mogok, in Burma’s central Mandalay Division on Sunday afternoon. Details of damages have not yet been reported. According to the US Geological Survey, the tremor had a depth of 8.34km, and it was the second quake to rock the Mogok area in the past seven days, fifth in the past year. Mogok, which until the early 2000’s was part of Shan State, is a gold and ruby rich town within the Mandalay Division borders.
