BRIEF – Burmese tragedy wins Edinburgh Film award

The movie “Ice Poison”, which was filmed in Burma by director Midi Z, has won the award for Best Film in the International Competition at the 68th Edinburgh International Film Festival. The film, which charts economic despair in the rural and developing landscape of Burma, beat out 11 other international nominees. Director Midi Z is half-Burmese, half-Taiwanese.
