BRIEF — Ministry responds to allegations of corruption among census enumerators

Burma’s Ministry of Immigration and Population has refuted claims that official census enumerators have demanded money from families as they were counted. In a statement, the ministry asserted that there is no need for census workers to request fees or contributions from the public, as a sufficient budget has already been provided for the census. The ministry warned the public that organisations or individuals asking for donations in the name of the census have no connection with the ministry.
