Rangoon murder rate down this year

There were 58 murder cases reported in Rangoon Division between January and April of this year, a drop from 71 in the same period in 2014, according to regional police. In data released by the divisional force on Wednesday, over 4,600 crimes took place in the region during the period, including 132 ‘major’ offenses such as murder, armed robbery and rape. ‘Pre-emptive’ action was reportedly taken in over 8,700 cases such as gambling, prostitution and DVD pirating.
