More than 1000 MPs today made their way to Naypyidaw’s new parliament building to join Burma’s first session in more than 20 years. Security was tight and media was banned from entering the premises, instead forced to hover at a distance hoping to catch any snippets of the proceedings they could.
State-run television announced earlier today the two first official appointments of post-election Burma, that of Shwe Mann and Khin Aung Myint who will become speakers of the lower and upper house respectively.
