Floodwaters have begun to recede in parts of Arakan and Chin states, and Sagaing division, but river levels in the Irrawaddy delta have exceeded danger levels. In Nyaungdon, residents are still waiting for waters to retreat so that clean up efforts can begin.
Students and volunteers in Rangoon have begun collecting donations for devastated towns to aid rebuilding, and to feed and clothe families whose possessions were destroyed in fast moving floodwaters and landslides.
