Five bids were submitted by Japanese companies; four from Thai firms; three from South Korea and Singapore; and one each from energy companies in Malaysia, China, India and Indonesia.

Among the bidders are: Thai national oil and gas producer PTT; Korean motor and electronics conglomerate Dae Woo; Singapore-based Puma Energy Group; and Japan’s Marubeni Corporation, all of whom have existing interests in Burma.
