Activist’s health deteriorating in prison

Nay Myo Zin was rushed to Rangoon General Hospital on Tuesday for an emergency MRI scan.

The tests followed an appearance in Dagon township court where he, alongside six others, are defending charges including defaming the state.

The seven are being held in Rangoon’s Insein prison as the case against them is prosecuted.

The military general turned social worker says that until Tuesday he had been blocked from accessing outside medical assistance, despite not being able to stand due to a deteriorating back condition.
