  • Although there were countrywide deadliest crackdowns yesterday killing at least 22 protesters,  anti-military demonstrations continue to rally in some cities such as Yangon, Mandalay , Myeik and Pathein, etc. today in the morning.  
  • The UN Human Rights Office called on the military to immediately halt the use of force against peaceful protesters and strongly condemned the escalating violence against protests in Myanmar, according to a statement issued on Feb 28. 
  • The military-operated Foreign Ministry of Myanmar had ordered issued on Feb.28 that  some staff working at Myanmar embassies abroad have been returned to Myanmar and replaced in their positions. 
  • Although U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar ambassador to the United Nations  has been fired by the military-operated Foreign ministry of Myanmar on Feb.27, the UN said he still remains a permanent country official representative to the UN. He was fired a day after delivering a speech representing Myanmar’s ousted civilian government at the UN General Assembly meeting.
  • As of 8 PM, 28 Feb, a total of 1,105 samples were tested and found 6 more new cases. MoHS has reported 141,896 of total confirmed cases including 131,480 discharged, and 3,199 deaths.
  • Despite the police blockade in Magway, hundreds of thousands of protesters staged the anti-military protests on the morning of Feb 28, more than 70 protesters including the chairman of Magway University Students’ Union were arrested.
  • In Kachin State, Myitkyina, a photojournalist and 72 protesters who were detained on the morning of Feb 28 have been released at around 8 pm last night. Security forces violently cracked down on the protesters in Myitkyina and at least 5 wounded on Sunday.
  • In Mandalay, Ko Aung Thura, chairman of the deposed National League for Democracy in Kyaukse township, and joint secretary Ko Aung Naing Lin, arrested in the Feb 1 coup, have been released on Feb 27.
  • In Shan State, Lashio, riot police cracked down on the anti-military regime protesters by using rubber bullets, tear gas, and water cannons, leaving more than 30 wounded and 8 arrested on Sunday.

Across the country, a total of  36 townships  have been deathly crackdown by security forces in today’s general strike. As of today, 8:30p.m local time at least 22  protesters have been killed in just one day during the bloodiest today’s crackdown, and about 10 people have been under critical conditions, as well as  hundreds injured, along with thousands of people have been arrested, and some have been released. Since the Feb 1 coup, there have been a total of (at least) 30 people who gave their lives in the anti-coup demonstrations in the country.

  • It is reported that one of the bloodiest today’s crackdown left at least five people dead and many more seriously injured and arrested during demonstrations against the military coup until this noon across the country. 
  • At least three anti-military regime protesters including two young men and a teacher have been killed and several injured during the brutal crackdowns by security forces in Yangon on the 28th day of military coup.
  • Ma Shin Moe Myint, a 23-year-old freelance photojournalist, was beaten and arrested by the security forces while she was covering the protests in Myaynigone, Yangon today noon.
  • The Embassy of Canada issued a statement on Sunday that condemned any use of force by security forces against unarmed protesters and called on the military and police to refrain from and to immediately cease all attacks, intimidation, and threats against protesters and to release those detained. The statement also expressed “Canada stands with the people of Myanmar.”
  • Mon State Immigration and Human Resources Minister U Tun Min Aung was charged under Section 505 (b) of the Criminal Code yesterday.
  • Australian oil and gas giant Woodside Energy  announced on Saturday(Feb.27) that it had pulled out of its offshore drilling business in Myanmar.
  • Jade traders from the jade producing areas of Myanmar_Mandalay, Hpakant and Shweli said they will  boycott gem exhibitions being prepared by the military council.
  • The military council has announced yesterday that it will take effective action if anyone participates either directly or indirectly in the committee formed under the name of Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw – CRPH.

  • Despite the lethal crackdown happening, anti-coup protesters have been massively rallying today making their further general strike in Yangon and  other cities such as Mandalay, Naypyidaw, Monyar and other cities across the country.  Riot police and soldiers have been violently dispersing, firing tear gas, setting off stun grenades and shooting guns into the air, leaving more than dozen of protesters have been injured and arrested. 
  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners-AAPP’s statistics,   a total of 854 people have been arrested, of them a total of 771 are still under detention or have outstanding charges as of Feb.27, 10:30pm local time.  It is reported that due to the countrywide lethal crackdown of the military,  at least 8 of total people have been killed since Feb 1 coup, and at least five journalists were arrested in one day yesterday.
  • In Dawei, Tanintharyi region, security forces used live rounds, rubber bullets, and tear gas to disperse the anti-military regime protest, leaving at least three people killed, about 20 injured, and more than 20 arrested today.
  • Several youths were arrested and brutally cracked down on the anti-coup demonstration in Insein township, Yangon on Sunday morning.
  • The National Management Degree College (NMDC) called for the immediate release of Ma Shwe Yi Pwint Oo, a third-year journalism student, who was unjustly arrested at Tamwe Ocean Center on the morning of Feb 28. 
  • Pu Lalawmpuia, the CEO of Hakha Time Media, has been arrested while covering the protest on Saturday in Chin State.
  • At least 60 medical students and doctors were arrested and dispersed while they were gathering to protest around Yankin, Moekaung in Yangon this morning.
  • In Pathein, Ayeyarwady region, security forces violently cracked down on protesters by using rubber bullets, tear gas, and water cannon at around 8 am today, arrested more than 20 protesters including teachers, and also attempted to arrest journalists.
  • After delivering a speech by representing Myanmar’s ousted civilian government at yesterday’s UN General Assembly meeting, UN Permanent Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun was dismissed by the military-formed Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • As of 8 PM, 26 Feb, a total of 1,110 samples were tested and found 15 more new cases and 1 death. MoHS has reported 141,890 of total confirmed cases including 131,454 discharged, and 3,199 deaths.

  • Riot police were firing shots into the air and set off stun grenades to forcely disperse the crowd protesting against the military, and had arrested the protesters including two journalists who were covering the protests. The streets including lanes of the neighborhood were being blocked and police were trying to arrest anyone who takes to the streets, in Hledan and Myinigone, central Yangon, where the protests were happening until this noon.
  • Police and military block the roads to crackdown the protesters who were making the campaign of boycotting the military-linked products near the Tamwe Ocean shopping center, in Tamwe township, Yangon this noon. Police entered even inside the shopping center to arrest the protesters.
  • At least 10 protesters and a female journalist covering protests in Thitsar Road, in Magway  were forcely arrested on the morning of February 27. 
  • Pakokku, in Magway region, the police forcibly crackdown and about 15 anti-military demonstrators were arrested today.
  • The military and police have been arresting peaceful protesters in Mandalay since the morning of February 27.
  • Despite security forces’ crackdowns in Mandalay, monks staged a peaceful sit-in protest this afternoon in front of the Mya Taung monastery, 35th street, for the overthrow of the military dictatorship. Riot police arrested anti-military protesters this morning and fired slingshots at the journalists.
  • Police raided a house on Bogyoke Road in Kale city, Monyar region for searching and arresting some young protesters who led the strike, according to local sources this morning.
  • The Karen National Union-KNU’s Brigade 5 announced on Feb.26 that it supports the people’s administration programs guided by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Representative Committee (CRPH) as an interim administration in areas outside KNU’s administration. 
  • The UN special envoy to Myanmar Christine Schraner Burgener urged the international community not to lend legitimacy or recognition to the military regime due to a clear violation of the constitution, during the informal UN General Assembly meeting on Friday.
  • Daw Win Mya Mya, MP of the National League for Democracy (NLD) who won the Nov election of the Pyithu Hluttaw constituency representing SintKine Township, Mandalay region  was arrested by the military on the morning of February 27.
  • The Dawei Nationalities Party announced on Feb.26 that the expelle of it’s chairman U Aye Min for attending a meeting  held yesterday by the military-formed UEC. The party expressed that it had verified that U Aye Min had attended as his own wish, without informing the party’s central executive committee.

  • The NLD announced on Feb.26 that it does not accept the statement released by the military-appointed new chairman of the Union Election Commission(UEC) that Nov’s elections results have been annulled.  The  UEC’s chairman, Thein Soe stated that the results of the 2020 election, in which the NLD had won a landslide victory, was annulled during a yesterday (Feb26)meeting with 53 political parties in Naypyidaw.
  • UN human rights Special Rapporteurs, independent experts yesterday(Feb.26)  called on the Myanmar military to immediately end the violent crackdown on countrywide peaceful protests against its coup and allow free expression. 
  • Defying the Myanmar military,  United Nations ambassador, Kyaw Moe Tun  represented Myanmar’s ousted civilian government, and  delivered a speech addressing the UN General Assembly meeting on yesterday (Feb.26). The ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun denounced the military coup, and said “all strongest possible measures to stop the violent and brutal acts committed by the security forces against peaceful demonstrators, and end the military coup immediately”.
  • It is reported that security forces cordoned off the protest areas such as Hleden, Myaynigone in Yangon since this early morning before the protesters arrived. In addition, they also blocked the entire University Avenue Road where the State Counselor’s house and embassies are located.
  • As of February 25, a total of 748 people have been arrested, charged, or sentenced since the February 1 coup, among them, 686 are still under detention, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners-AAPP.
  • As of 8 PM, 26 Feb, a total of 1,254 samples were tested, and found 34 more new cases. MoHS has reported 141,875 of total confirmed cases including 131,435 discharged, and 3,198 deaths.
  • Another woman was forcibly arrested in Pathein, Ayeyarwady region on Feb 26 while she returned from shopping with her daughter, said her daughter. A total of 7 anti-coup protesters were arrested in Pathein and they could not be reached so far.
  • In Sagaing, medical supplies including masks, oxygen cylinders, hand gels, and PPE,  donated by the Sagaing residents and Daw Khin Kyi Foundation were seized by police and troops at around 10 am on Friday, said a local. In this regard, township police chief Soe Moe Naing voiced “We seized in accordance with the law and will transfer the medical supplies to the hospital when it reopens.”
  • Riot police cracked down on the anti-military protest in Pakokku and arrested about 15 protesters including teachers and members of the Red Cross.
  • In Mandalay, the deposed NLD’s MP Daw Win Mya Mya and regional executive U Aye Thein were arrested in party office this morning.
