The Yesagyo Township Information Committee announced that regime troops killed 17 civilians, as well as a member of the People’s Defence Force (PDF), and set fire to nearly 400 homes in the Yaylelkyun area of Yesagyo, Magway Region, since Feb. 26. Yesagyo is located 133 miles (214 km) north of the region’s capital Magway.
“A 200-strong military column composed of troops from the Light Infantry Division (LID) 101 from Pakokku, Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 256, 257 and 258 from Yesagyo and pro-regime militias have been killing civilians and burning down houses,” a Yesagyo Township Information Committee spokesperson told DVB. Pakokku is located 29 miles (46 km) south of Yesagyo and 105 miles (168) north of Magway.
Resistance forces in Yesagyo and Myaung townships claimed that they had killed five military personnel and captured six others on Feb. 26. Myaung Township is located 44 miles (70 km) northeast of Yesagyo in neighbouring Sagaing Region. Thousands of Yesagyo residents have fled their homes and are in need of food and medical attention, an aid worker told DVB.
