Six NLD members arrested

Sep 8, 2008 (DVB), Six members of the National League for Democracy in Magwe division’s Pwint Phyu and Salin townships were arrested by government authorities on evening of 6 September, according to the party’s information centre.

The NLD said it was still unable to identify the six members, four from Pwint Phyu township and two from Salin, or establish on what grounds they had been arrested.

This is the first report of arrests of NLD members in upper Burma since the start of September.
