Widespread factory strikes in Burma that began in Rangoon’s Industrial Zones last month have spread to Mandalay.
About 300 workers from Aung Sein textile and wool factory, are staging a sit-in protest.
The workers have issued a six-point demand, which includes an increase in their basic salary rise, better health benefits, worker’s compensation, guaranteed days off on weekends and an end to mistreatment.
A witness said strike leaders met with company representatives at noon today to begin negotiations.
