The aerial bombardments targeted the villages of Talaingkyun, Paukkan, Kugyi, and Samon in central Myanmar’s Sagaing Region.
Casualties and village-by-village impact
Local residents and People’s Defense Force (PDF) members reported that regime jet fighters hit civilian communities without prior warning or active ground combat:
- Talaingkyun Village (Sagaing Township — July 27): A displaced couple who had fled fighting in Mandalay’s Singu Township were killed when airstrikes hit a relative’s home where they were sheltering. The strike destroyed three residential homes and a local school.
- Paukkan & Samon Villages (Wetlet & Sagaing Townships — July 28): A regime fighter jet conducted two separate strikes targeting Paukkan and Samon, killing two civilians—including a 60-year-old man. The attack destroyed 20 homes sheltering internally displaced persons (IDPs).
- Kugyi Village (Wetlet Township — July 27): Airstrikes hit the village directly; no civilian casualties were reported.
Three injured survivors from the attacks are currently receiving emergency medical treatment in the region.
