Jun 9, 2008 (DVB), Heavy rains and high tides in Irrawaddy division over the past few days have washed the bodies of cyclone victims to Labutta township, according to aid workers.
Volunteer aid workers providing assistance to cyclone victims in Dadaye and Phyar Pon townships said the bodies had been washed away from the area.
"In some small villages in Dadaye township there were no more dead human bodies, although the smell still lingered there," one aid worker said.
"The dead bodies in Phyar Pon and Dadaye were washed away by the heavy rain, but they collected in Labutta which opens to the sea."
Another aid worker in the same area said areas of Dadaye and Phyar Pon were now clear of dead bodies.
Relief workers have blamed disease outbreaks in cyclone-affected areas on uncollected bodies contaminating the water supply.
