Burma celebrates Thingyan

Burma celebrates the Buddhist New Year Water Festival, Thingyan, which runs from 13-16 April. People celebrate by throwing water on each other to wash away the sins and bad luck from the previous year. Traditional dancing and music accompanies the festivities. The Buddhist New Year is also a religious festival where people give offerings to monks or visit temples and spend time with their families.
