The fight for democracy in five short documentaries at FCCT

FROM THE DVB NEWSROOM

DVB screened five Short Docs 2023 films at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT) in Bangkok on Jan. 26. The films were followed by a panel discussion featuring DVB Bureau Chief Mon Mon Myat, DVB Short Doc Contest Co-organizer Khin Yupar, journalist Aung Naing Soe, and Thai Film Archive Deputy Director Kong Rithdee.

“What we see here is a collection of very real human stories. The raw sincerity of the filmmaking is very touching to me. Also, the kind of intimacy you can feel, intimacy between the filmmakers and the subjects,” said Kong Rithdee after watching the five DVB Short Docs.

“I think for DVB to choose the format of the Short Doc competition. I think this is a good way to bring out the human stories within Burma,” Rithdee added. The five short docs will be screened next in Stockholm, Sweden on Feb. 21. All 10 DVB Short Docs 2023 are available to watch on-demand.
