Things might be looking up for primary school education in Burma. Although public spending for schools is still low, this year the education budget has almost doubled, and the government has promised more changes will come. Meanwhile there are more options emerging for education in Burma. Several alternatives to the government run schools have surfaced this year including 10 new private schools to be opened in June. The National League for democracy (NLD) leader, Aung San Suu Kyi talks about the new alternative free schools that the NLD have set up, and the camera teams visit monastery schools to see a different approach to education.
