Funeral held for son of former KNU leader

Mar 19, 2008 (DVB), A funeral for the son of the Karen National Union’s former leader general Saw Bo Mya was held in the Karen National Liberation Army battalion headquarters at around 1pm today.

Lieutenant colonel Saw Nay Kaw Mya, commander of KNLA battalion 202, was the eldest son of the late KNU leader general Saw Bo Mya.

He passed away on 16 March aged 44 at the Lanna hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from kidney and high blood-sugar level problems.

A KNU leader who attended the funeral today said Nay Kaw Mya’s remains have been buried beside his father’s grave.

Nay Kaw Mya is survived by his wife, Naw Pa Leh, one daughter and one son.
