Burma’s most important holiday of the year, Thingyan, is just weeks away, but Holi, a two-day festival celebrated by the country’s more than 800,000 Hindus, has just ended.
A colourful event that is marked throughout South Asia and in many other parts of the world with large Hindu communities, Holi marks the beginning of spring and the victory of good over evil. It’s a time to meet old friends and repair broken relationships, and to give thanks for a good harvest.
