Journey to Justice: The Par Gyi Case (Part Three)

In late September, freelance journalist Par Gyi went missing in Mon State, eastern Burma while covering clashes between Democratic Karen Benevolent Army rebels and government troops.

His disappearance sparked a desperate search, led by his wife, Ma Thandar.

One month later a notice appeared in Burmese state media. It advised that Par Gyi had been shot by the Burmese army as a suspected member of the DKBA.

Ma Thandar’s search for her husband was over.

Her journey to justice was just beginning.

This is her story.
