Aug 19, 2008 (DVB), Six people, including one child, were killed in a landslide brought on by heavy rain in Moegok on Saturday, which also flattened a house, according to local residents.

The disaster, which took place on the night of 16 August, killed a family of five and one unidentified person.

"Their house was built underneath the edge of a cliff which collapsed right on top of them , we couldn’t retrieve the bodies until the next morning," a Moegok resident said.

The resident said the bodies were recovered by the local volunteer fire brigade, Red Cross members and social workers.

An earlier landslide in Moegok on 11 June caused by water overflowing from Yayni creek killed 11.
