More bombs found in Irrawaddy town

Two more bombs were found this morning in the Irrawaddy division township of Henzada where yesterday an explosion left minor damage at a local government office.

Staff at a post office in the town discovered the devices in an alleyway behind a teashop early this morning. Roads were quickly blockaded by police and authorities secured the areas.

A resident said he had heard reports that the devices were time bombs and were larger than the bomb that exploded yesterday outside the Henzada Township Administration Office, blowing part of the roof off.

A second device was also found yesterday in the compounds of the local government’s Communication Office. Another Henzada resident told DVB today that locals were “confused” about the situation.

Two people have been reportedly detained in connection with the incident yesterday, but when contacted, the Henzada police chief Ye Myint Swe said no details could be made public.
