Refugee turmoil

Up to 20,000 refugees this week fled violence in several areas along the Thai-Burma border, as a rebel faction of the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) on 8 November led an assualt on government property in Myawaddy and Payathonzu. The vast majority of the Karen refugees have now returned, despite concerns remaining about stability in eastern Burma.
