Hundreds of Burmese women took to the streets of Chiang Mai yesterday to mark the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, mirroring demonstrators around the world. Leading democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi joined the occasion via a satellite feed from her home in Rangoon, while a global chorus rang out with calls for an improvement to the rights of women.
