Thais and foreign tourists celebrated the Loy Krathong Festival, the annual “Festival of Lights,” along the banks of the Ping River in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Nov. 5. Crowds gathered along the banks of the river to float (loy in Thai) krathong, which are small, decorated baskets, typically made from banana leaves, flowers, incense sticks, and a candle.
