Thein Sein invites political party leaders for informal chat

Burma’s President Thein Sein has invited political party leaders to a meeting on Monday afternoon at the Rangoon government office.

Khin Maung Swe, leader of the National Democratic Force, said the President’s Office extended an invitation to two representatives from each party.

“There is no agenda listed for the event – the president meets with political party leaders occasionally to exchange information and allow the politicians to raise issues of their concern,” he told DVB. “The president will usually give a speech, outline two or three points, and we will base our discussions on those,” said Khin Maung Swe.

The opposition National League for Democracy said its executive members Nyan Win and Han Thar Myint will attend on behalf of the party.
