Mae Sot Refugee Voice is a group based in the Thai border town of Mae Sot. It was founded last January to advocate on behalf of Myanmar refugees and asylum seekers in Thailand. They’ve faced a recent backlash online from those who want them to stop staging protests in front of the UNHCR (U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees) office in Mae Sot and at its headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand.
Muslim members of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) face difficulties on the frontline during Ramadan. They are unable to break fast in the morning as they don’t want smoke from the cooking fires to be spotted and draw airstrikes from the military.
